Festival of balance and awareness with Vedantananda (Veronica Burningham) and Jayanti (Jane Russell). This day will focus on balance and awareness, physically, mentally and emotionally. It will include a walk in nature and the practice of antar mouna.
Veronica originally trained with the British Wheel of Yoga, for whom she taught a number of Foundation Courses, Continuing Professional Development days on Teaching Yoga to Children and also the post-diploma module of the same name for yoga teachers. Attracted to the Satyananda Yoga tradition of Swami Satyananda and the Bihar School of Yoga, she was lucky enough to undertake a Teacher Training Course in that tradition, culminating with a month in the ashram in India in 2003.
Satyananda Yoga focuses on the whole personality, not just the physical and Veronica believes that the awareness and balance it teaches helps us to deal more effectively with our day-to-day lives.
Veronica can offer half day, full day and two-day courses on various aspects of yoga, including:-
• Conscious Ageing: This course looks at the issues around ageing and how we can live happily and healthily into old age.
• Surya Namaskara and Chandra Namaskar: These are offered as individual days or a full weekend.
• also a monthly meditation course in Middleton-in-Teesdale, usually on the first Wednesday of the month.

Tessa Nichol is a British Wheel of Yoga teacher. She also works as a counsellor and lectures in the subject.
Tessa regards yoga as an integral part of her life and has been practising hatha yoga for 40 years. She fractured her spine 30 years ago and believes that she owes her current level of flexibility to yoga (and some determination!).
As a consequence of her personal and professional experiences Tessa is particularly drawn to the de-stressing and healing powers of yoga. She likes to explore this through the use of relaxation techniques, such as Yoga Nidra and has recently completed the BWY module 'Yoga for People with Cancer'. Tessa promises that the closing relaxation will be an important part of her workshop.

The Course is 12 days in duration, with 8 saturdays and 2 weekends over the course of 1 year. It includes progressive case studies for personal development. On completion you will receive a diploma in Thai Yoga Massage and enabled to practice as a professional.
Contact me and I can post or e-mail you a full course brochure
I have been a self employed Holistic Therapist for 12 years. I have a BSc degree in Complementary Medicine and qualified in other massage techniques, including Aromatherapy, Reflexology, Chinese Acupressure and studied Ayurvedic and Indian Head Massage in Kerala, South India.
Since 2006 I have trained as a Hatha Yoga teacher with the British Wheel of Yoga and have been teaching privately for the last 4 years, also working with Adult Education, various schools and Middlesbrough football club. During my training I began to develop an interest in Thai Yoga Massage, because it was so effective and allowed me to fuse my massage skills with my passion for Yoga. To further develop this interest I travelled to Chiang Mai in Thailand, to study full time at the famous International Training Massage School (ITM) and qualified as an Advanced Practitioner. I then later returned to ITM, to study again with Master Chongkol (John) Setthakorn and complete a 3 month Teacher training programme with him, which now qualifies me to teach others to a professional level 2 standard. In later went back to Thailand again for another 3 months and studied with Sunshine network, in Chiang Mai, going even deeper into the traditional and therapeutic aspect of Thai mas!
sage.
In my experience Thai Yoga Massage is an art form, which is definitely feeling based, intuitive and yet also very practical. Upon mastering the postures and the transitions between them, the whole treatment begins to flow like water. In this meditative flow we go into a heightened state of awareness and well-being ourselves. It feels wonderful to give and is unique for each of us. I found that training in Hatha Yoga, with its science of energy and breathing techniques have also changed the way I give and teach Thai Yoga massage. I have slowed it down and practice it as a healing art in exactly the same way I practice my Yoga. The standard curriculum of 10 days duration has been extended to 12 days here. It includes 4 progressive case studies and I have also lengthened the duration between course days, to give people the chance to fully develop and enable people with family and work commitments to participate more easily. The quick way is not the fastest way to become an arti!
st of Thai Yoga and this course in its design is leading you exactly to that state of becoming one
In giving treatments over the years and learning how to use my energy and to work with others energy, I have now realised the importance of achieving a place of stillness and harmony before sharing Thai Yoga Massage. In this course therefore we begin each session with Yoga and Meditation to still and balance our energy and also to reconnect on a conscious level with our true nature of being a loving and peaceful soul. In this awareness Thai Yoga becomes more spontaneous and enjoyable, because there is no resistance to the creative life force moving through us.
The postures of Thai Yoga Massage are the stepping stones that will eventually become a seamless stream of gentle movement by the end of this course. As it has been for me, it will also become your gift that enables you to explore, to share, to connect with another and also to yourself. Steeped in oriental history and medicine, Thai Yoga Massage has provided me with such a rich and unique path along the healing arts I would like to share.
